Hiberno-Latin
Irish scholar-poets writing in Latin, mostly abroad. Columbanus sent hexameter verse letters from his monasteries at Luxeuil and Bobbio; Sedulius Scottus wrote witty occasional poems at Liège, including a mock-lament for a stolen ram; Eriugena, one of the few scholars in the Latin West of his day who could read Greek, wrote Latin verse alongside the philosophy.
Usually left out of accounts framed around Irish and English. It is a small body of work and a genuinely Irish one.
