Amergin Glúingel

Mythological first poet of Ireland, said in the Lebor Gabála Érenn to have chanted Ireland into being as the Milesians landed. Not a historical figure, but the poems attributed to him ("I am the wind on the sea…") are foundational to how Irish poetry has imagined its own origins.
